Do you find yourself writing descriptions of other people's work, but not adding your own perspective or questions?
Okay, so it might show you understand the subject area, but so what?
We want discoveries, not repetition!
Most students have come from a school background where the purpose of assignments is to demonstrate they have remembered and understood information and ideas.
BUT, that's not the purpose of University assignments. Yes, they do partly assess what you have learnt. BUT, the key difference, is they also assess your ability to think and create new knowledge.
University assessments require you to not just understand your subject, but to be able to apply ideas to new situations, use subject-specific forms of analysis, to evaluate ideas, facts, evidence and authors’ work, and lastly, to create new knowledge and ideas.
It’s because it is hard to explain! In fact there’s a branch of philosophy - Epistemology - that debates exactly this! In reality, critical analysis is the tip of the iceberg - A very simple way to describe ‘ASKING QUESTIONS’.
The rest of the iceberg involves understanding what counts as knowledge, where it comes from, and how something can be proven. Disciplines have different beliefs about knowledge and this effects the types of questions that students should ask.
But how many programmes are ABLE to explain this to their students? Very few.
The danger is that most students see ‘critical analysis’ as a very simple, but ambiguous, set of questions - such as What? Why? How? Etc.
And if this is the level you are working at, then you will STRUGGLE to boost your grade to a 1st. And you will FAIL to create knowledge.
BUT if you understand what knowledge is, and how its created, then you realise there are very simple techniques for discovery.
Then we will follow this up with tried and tested techniques for answering those challenging questions. It’s our plug-and-play Exploration full of subject-specific techniques that get you into the zone for creating knowledge, discovery connections, and developing ideas!
WHY waste time trying to figure it all out yourself? When you get the tools to work smarter and not harder for both academic writing and creation of knowledge, and critical analysis.

Where do you see your writing taking you? This tool will help get your subconscious working on essays, as well as your conscious mind.
"I have attended quite a few courses, but yours is really perfect, because you give lots of examples, but other people don't... I cannot relate if someone just speaks to me about it, and doesn’t show me an example."
"It motivated me because they don't expect you to just know things right away and it's helpful for someone who may struggle with academic writing more than most!"
"Everything was useful!"
"I have just received my portfolio back, and I'm really happy to let you know I received a mark of 82%. Thank you very much for your help and input as they certainly had a huge impact on this score!"
"It was great and educational to talk to you. I never looked at analysing a statement in that way, even when I consider myself critical! Thank you so much for the enlightenment and tools!"
"Wow! If all students could make best use of advice like this, they'd develop intellectually in leaps and bounds. The help you have given here is superb! You are encouraging the student to think for herself, AND offering guidance in how to think and how to approach this kind of assignment"
In fact, we're so confident that we can help you, that if your writing has not improved after you have used our advice and techniques, then we will give you a full refund.
